Rubik's Revolution facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Rubik's Revolution is a cool electronic game you can hold in your hand. It was created by a company called Rehco, LLC. This fun game even won an award in 2008 for being the "Game of the Year"!

The Rubik's Revolution looks a lot like the famous Rubik's Cube. It's a single, solid cube, about the size of a bigger Rubik's Cube. Each side of the cube has nine smaller squares. In the middle of each side, there's a special button that lights up. These buttons match the colors on the rest of the cube's squares. To play, you press the buttons when they light up or when the game tells you to.

Even though it looks like a Rubik's Cube, the way you play Rubik's Revolution is totally different! You don't twist or turn parts of this cube. All the colored sides stay in place, and the small squares on each side are fixed. It's a puzzle that tests your speed and memory, not how well you can twist and turn.

Awesome Features

The Rubik's Revolution comes with six exciting electronic games. These games use the six light-up buttons in the middle of each side and a speaker inside the cube. The games are called "Light Speed," "Rapid Recharge," "Pattern Panic," "Cube Catcher," "Multiplayer Madness," and "Code Cracker." There's even a secret seventh game you can find if you read the instructions carefully!

There are also different versions of the Rubik's Revolution. The Titanium Edition can remember your high scores. The Ice Edition also tracks scores and how much progress you make. The Micro Edition is a tiny keychain version that only lets you play a shorter game of "Light Speed."

The game has an electronic voice that helps you play and change settings, like the volume. (Want a hint? Press the Yellow and Silver buttons when you turn the game on to change the volume!) The games also have cool sound effects, like a soft "click" when you press a button.

Light Speed Game

In "Light Speed," one button lights up, and you have to press it quickly. As you get better, you get less time to press the right button! The game ends if you press the wrong button, run out of time, or reach the highest score of 999. The Titanium and Ice versions let you get even higher scores, so you can play for a long time! The small Micro Edition has a top score of 99 and even ranks how well you play.

Rapid Recharge Game

For "Rapid Recharge," buttons light up for a short time. If a button stays lit for too long, it starts flashing, and an alarm sounds. You need to quickly press that button many times to "recharge" it. You win if you can recharge all the buttons at the same time. But if you don't recharge a button in time, the game is over.

Pattern Panic Game

"Pattern Panic" tests your memory. A series of buttons light up, and the game tells you their colors. First, it's one button, then two, and so on. You have five seconds to press the buttons in the exact same order. If you press the wrong button or run out of time, the game ends. Try to remember the longest pattern you can!

Cube Catcher Game

In "Cube Catcher," different buttons light up randomly. You have thirty seconds to press as many of the correct buttons as you can. The game gives you time warnings as the clock counts down. After time runs out, the game tells you how accurate you were with a percentage score.

Multiplayer Madness Game

"Multiplayer Madness" is like "Light Speed," but it's for more than one player! You pass the cube around. If a player can't press the button in time or presses the wrong one, they're out of the game. The last player left wins!

Code Cracker Game

"Code Cracker" is a puzzle where you try to guess the secret order of buttons to press. If you press a wrong button, an alarm sounds, and you have to start over. Once you "crack the code," the game tells you how long it took and how many tries you needed. Can you crack the code in the fewest tries?
