Seattle Children's Theatre facts for kids
The Seattle Children's Theatre, also known as SCT, is a special theater in Seattle, Washington, that creates plays just for kids and families. It was started in 1975 and has become a popular place for young people to experience the magic of live shows.
SCT has its main home at the Seattle Center, where it has two different stages. One is a large theater that can hold 482 people, and the other is a smaller, more intimate space for 275 people. The main season of plays usually runs from the fall through the spring.
Since it began, SCT has put on more than 269 plays. What's really special is that over 120 of these were world premieres. This means SCT was the very first theater in the world to perform those shows!

Education and Learning at SCT
The Seattle Children's Theatre believes that the arts are an important part of education. It offers many programs for young people who want to learn more about acting and theater.
The Drama School
SCT runs a Drama School all year long. Professional actors and artists teach the classes. It's a great way for kids and teens to build confidence, be creative, and learn how to perform on stage. During the summer, the school even puts on its own shows, giving students a chance to shine.
Deaf Youth Drama Program
From 1994 to 2007, SCT had a special program for deaf and hard-of-hearing youth. Founded by brothers Howie and Billy Seago, this program helped make theater accessible to everyone. It showed SCT's commitment to including all members of the community in the arts.
