Sir Edward Crofton was a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Irish House of Commons. This was like being a representative for people in a specific area. He represented the town of Roscommon for many years. He served as an MP from 1713 until he passed away in 1739.

In 1733, he was given an even more important role. He became a member of the Privy Council of Ireland. This group advised the King or Queen on important matters for Ireland.

Family and Legacy

Sir Edward Crofton married Mary Nixon on March 4, 1711. She was the daughter of Anthony Nixon from Dublin. When his father passed away on November 24, 1729, Edward became the 3rd Baronet.

When Sir Edward Crofton passed away on November 11, 1739, his eldest son, Edward, took over the title. Later Baronets in the Crofton family came from his daughter, Catherine. She married Sir Marcus Lowther-Crofton, 1st Baronet.
