St Ceinwen's Church in Llangeinwen is a very old and important church in north Wales. It is located on the island of Anglesey. This church is considered a Grade II* listed building. This means it is a special historical building that needs to be protected. It is about 1.5 kilometers away from another church called St Mary's Church, Llanfair-yn-y-Cwmwd.
The church is named after St Ceinwen. It stands in a churchyard next to the A4080 road. This is about 800 meters west of the village of Dwyran.

History of the Church
St Ceinwen's Church has a long and interesting history. It was founded by two sisters, Ceinwen and Dwynwen. They also founded another church on nearby Llanddwyn Island. It is quite special that both churches are named after their founders.
Building Through the Ages
The main part of the church you see today was built a very long time ago. The north and south walls of the nave (the main area where people sit) are from the 12th century. This means they are over 800 years old! The chancel (the area near the altar) was built during the medieval period.
The church has been used continuously since it was first built. This makes it a truly remarkable historical site.
Later Additions and Features
Over the centuries, parts of the church were added or changed. In the 19th century, a north chapel was built. The church tower was also added around this time.
You can find very old gravestones built into the buttresses (supports) of the church. Some of these gravestones date back to the 9th and 11th centuries. Imagine how old those are!
Inside the church, there is a beautiful stone font. This is a basin used for baptisms. It was made in the 13th century. There is also a doorway on the north wall of the nave that was built in the 12th century. It is now blocked up. The brass chandeliers hanging inside the church are from the early 19th century.
