St Christopher's Church is a beautiful church located in Bare, a part of Morecambe, England. It's a Church of England parish church, which means it's a local church for the community. It was built in 1933 and designed by Henry Paley, a famous architect from the Austin and Paley firm. Building the church cost about £5,957 back then. The church is built in a style called Free Perpendicular, which is a type of old English Gothic architecture. A well-known expert, Nikolaus Pevsner, once said the church was "pleasant to look at," even though its style was a bit old-fashioned for the time it was built.

History and Design

St Christopher's Church was completed in 1933. The architects, Austin and Paley, were known for designing many churches. The church's design includes a main area called the nave where people sit. It also has a north aisle, which is like a walkway along the side. The chancel is the part of the church near the altar. There's also a tall northeast tower. An idea for a south aisle was planned but never built.

Inside the Church

Most of the windows in St Christopher's Church look like they are from the 16th century. The windows in the aisle have special horizontal bars across them, called transoms. The church has some lovely stained glass windows. The large window at the east end and another window in the chapel were made by a company called Shrigley and Hunt in the 1930s. Other stained glass windows from the 20th century were made by Abbott and Company of Lancaster.

Special Features

The church also has a large pipe organ. This organ has two keyboards, which musicians use to play music. It was rebuilt in 1984 by George Sixsmith, using parts of an older organ. This makes the organ quite special and important for the church's music.
