The Parish Church of Saint Nicholas, often called St Nicholas' Cardonald, is a church in Glasgow, Scotland. It was built in the 1900s and belongs to the Church of Scotland. You can find it in the Hillington and Cardonald areas of the city. It serves as a local Parish church, which means it's a church for people living in a specific area.

The Story of St Nicholas' Church

Building the Church

St Nicholas' Church was designed by a famous architect named James Miller. Construction began in the 1930s. The church was built using bricks, and it features strong pillars and rounded arches.

The building was finished in 1937. It was officially opened and dedicated on November 25, 1937. This dedication marked it as a special place for worship and community gatherings.

Growing Together

When the church first opened, not many people were members. However, the community quickly grew! By 1947, over a thousand people were part of the church. This number almost doubled by 1962, reaching nearly two thousand members.

In 2015, something new happened. The church community of St Nicholas' joined with another local church, Penilee St Andrew. They formed one larger group called St Andrew and St Nicholas Parish. Both church buildings are still used today by the combined community.
