T'Melle Rawlings, known as T'Melle, is an American singer, dancer, and songwriter. She sings R&B and hip-hop music. Before becoming T'Melle, she used the name T'Nef.
Early Music Journey
T'Melle was discovered by Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Lisa was a famous member of the music group TLC. Lisa Lopes helped T'Melle join a girl group called Egypt. Other members of Egypt were Joy "Zada" Lonon, Katrina "Akila" Gibson, and Sophia "Isis" Gibson. Lisa Lopes was their mentor and manager. She helped the group learn and grow.
In April 2002, a car accident happened in Honduras. Lisa Lopes sadly passed away. T'Melle was also in the car and was seriously hurt. She could not walk on her own for a while. T'Melle then left the group. She used a wheelchair and had many surgeries to help her leg and hip heal.
Becoming a Solo Artist
When T'Melle was a teenager, she wanted to keep making music. She convinced her parents to let her move to Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, T'Melle met Walter Sutton. He was the CEO of Infra-Red Entertainment.
T'Melle soon caught the eye of the famous singer Usher. She went on a European tour with him. She was his only female background singer. She also got the attention of Tricky Stewart. He is a Grammy Award-winning music producer. Tricky Stewart helped T'Melle improve her skills as an artist.
Recent Music Releases
T'Melle released her album The Interview in 2013. Before that, she released the song Go To War in April 2011.
In October 2015, she released a fun, upbeat song called "Drop It Down." In the summer of 2016, her song "Cross the line" featuring Kevin Gates came out. This song has been played over a million times on SoundCloud.
On March 1, 2019, T'Melle released a new version of "Loving You." This song was originally by the soul singer Minnie Riperton. T'Melle released her latest collection of songs, called an EP, titled Dedicated. It came out on Apple Music in December 2020.
