The Outlaw's Silver is the 67th book in the exciting Hardy Boys Mystery Stories series. It was written by Franklin W. Dixon and first published by Wanderer Books in 1981. This book takes readers on a thrilling adventure with Frank and Joe Hardy as they search for a hidden treasure.
The Mystery Begins
The story kicks off when Frank and Joe Hardy get a mysterious package. Inside, they find a copy of a 200-year-old letter. This letter is supposedly from the "Outlaw of the Pine Barrens". It talks about a lost treasure of silver, hidden deep in the pine forests of New Jersey.
Right after the letter arrives, the boys receive a strange phone call. Someone claiming to be the Outlaw warns them to stay away from the Pine Barrens. He tells them to forget about finding any silver. Frank and Joe quickly figure out that the real Outlaw of the Pine Barrens died two centuries ago. This makes the mystery even more interesting!
An Adventure in the Pine Barrens
Frank and Joe can't resist a good adventure and a puzzling mystery. They gather their friends, Chet, Biff, and Tony, and plan a camping trip. Their destination? The mysterious Pine Barrens in New Jersey.
Once they arrive in the woods, things get wild. The boys soon run into a group of criminals. These smugglers are trying to stop them. But that's not all! They also encounter a "ghost" who seems to be the outlaw himself. And to make things even stranger, they come across the legendary New Jersey Devil! All these characters are trying to scare the boys away from their mission.
Following the Clues
The Hardy Boys get a key clue: a single word, "fishhook." To follow this clue, they need a bird's-eye view. Their father's pilot, Jack Wayne, flies them over the Pine Barrens in their family plane, the Skyhappy Sal.
From the sky, Frank and Joe parachute down into the wilderness. This daring move helps them find the final clues. They use their detective skills to piece everything together and finally solve the mystery of the Outlaw's Silver. It's a race against time and a battle against tricky villains to uncover the truth!
