Tilo Prückner (born October 26, 1940 – died July 2, 2020) was a German actor. He was famous for his roles in many movies and TV shows, acting for over 50 years in more than 100 films.
Early Life and Education
Tilo Prückner was born in Augsburg, Germany. His father, Alfred Prückner, was a children's doctor. Tilo went to school in Augsburg and later in Nuremberg, where he finished high school in 1960. He started studying law but decided to become an actor instead. He trained to be an actor in Munich.
Acting Career
Tilo Prückner began his acting career in theaters. From 1962 to 1964, he worked at the Schauburg theater in Munich. He also performed at theaters in St. Gallen, Oberhausen, and Zürich. In 1970, he helped start the Schaubühne theater in Berlin.
Later, he started working more in movies and TV. He often played characters who were a bit unusual or had challenges. In 1976, he won an award called the German Actors Award. This was for his role as a violinist named Hännschen Wurlitzer in the movie Bomber & Paganini.
Many people might know him from his international roles. He played the "Night Hob" who rode a bat in the 1984 fantasy movie The NeverEnding Story. He also appeared as Dr. Richter, a scientist, in the 2012 science fiction comedy Iron Sky.
In his later years, Tilo Prückner showed his talent for playing many different kinds of characters. He often played quirky or grumpy people. He was a detective named Gernot Schubert in the TV series Adelheid und ihre Mörder for six years. He also had a regular role as a landlord in the TV series Kommissarin Lucas starting in 2003. From 2015 until he passed away, he played a main role in the crime series Rentnercops. In this show, he played a retired police officer who was hired back to work.
In 2013, Tilo Prückner also wrote his first novel, which is a type of book, called Willi Merkatz wird verlassen.
Death
Tilo Prückner died suddenly from heart failure in Berlin on July 2, 2020. He was 79 years old.
