History of the Church Building

Early Days of Trinity Evangelical Church

The Trinity Evangelical Church started in 1878. At first, the church members met in people's homes. Two years later, in 1880, they built their first church. It was located at the corner of Howard and Grove Street.

Later, the church sold this first building. For a while, they held their services at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Building the Current Church

The Trinity Evangelical congregation built the current church building in 1929. This is the building you can see today. Over time, the church changed its name to Trinity Missionary Church. It became part of the Missionary Church.

New Life Anglican Church Takes Over

In 2013, the Trinity Missionary Church moved to a new building. This new location is on the east side of Petoskey. They sold their historic State Street building to the New Life Anglican Church. New Life Anglican Church is a newer church that is part of the Anglican Church in North America. It belongs to the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes.

What the Church Looks Like

This church building has two and a half stories. It is made of brick and built in a style called Classical Revival. The roof has two sloping sides, which is called a gable roof.

The front of the church has a part that sticks out in the middle. This part holds a large window with many small glass panes. The window is shaped like a round arch. Above this window, there are four arch-shaped designs that look like windows but are solid. This same design is also seen on the sides of the building. Other windows on the sides are rectangular.
