Universal's Epic Universe is an exciting new theme park being built in Orlando, Florida. It will be a big part of the Universal Orlando Resort. This amazing park was first announced in August 2019.
The park was planned to open in 2023. However, its opening was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the project is on hold, and a new opening date will be announced later.
Where is Epic Universe?
This new theme park will be located a few miles south of the current Universal Orlando Resort. It will be built on a large piece of land, about 750 acres, near Sand Lake Road and Universal Boulevard.
The Story of Epic Universe
NBCUniversal announced the plans for this third theme park on August 1, 2019. Tom Williams, who leads Universal Parks & Resorts, said Epic Universe would be their "most immersive and innovative theme park." This means it will feel very real and be full of new ideas.
Company leaders also shared that the park would create 14,000 new jobs. These jobs include many different roles, like technical experts and chefs. At the time, they did not say exactly when the park would open.
What Rides and Fun Will There Be?
As of August 2019, Universal had not shared many details about the rides. But, some early pictures showed at least two roller coasters. There were also images of indoor rides, big lakes, and a tall hotel.
We do not know yet which movie or game worlds will be in Epic Universe. However, the park will also have an entertainment area, hotels, shops, and restaurants. In January 2020, it was confirmed that a Super Nintendo World area would be part of the park. This means you might get to step into the world of Mario and his friends!
