The University of Montana – Missoula is a public university located in Missoula, Montana. It's often called UM for short. This university was started a long time ago in 1893. Today, about 15,642 students go to school there. It's a big place where students learn many different subjects.

Sports Teams at UM

The University of Montana has exciting sports teams! They are known as the Grizzlies. If you watch women's basketball, you'll see them called the Lady Griz.

Competing in the Big Sky Conference

UM has 14 different sports teams that compete against other universities. They are part of a group called the Big Sky Conference. This means they play against other schools in the western United States.
