Verónica II of Matamba facts for kids
Verónica II Guterres was a queen who ruled the Kingdom of Ndongo and Matamba in Africa. She was queen from 1756 until 1758.
Verónica II was the daughter of Queen Ana II Guterres and the sister of Queen Ana III Guterres. She was chosen to be the next ruler during her mother's long reign.
Becoming Queen
In 1756, Queen Ana II Guterres passed away. Verónica II then became the new queen, just as her mother had planned. She ruled the kingdoms for about two years.
End of Her Reign
In 1758, Verónica II's sister, Ana III, took over the throne. Verónica II was removed from power, and sadly, her life ended. Later, in 1767, Ana III was also removed from power by her nephew, Francisco II Kalwete ka Mbandi. He might have been Verónica II's son.
