Washburn is a small community in Black Hawk County, Iowa, in the United States. It is called an "unincorporated town" and a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it is a recognized area for counting people, but it doesn't have its own city government.
Washburn is located south of a larger city called Waterloo. You can find it along U.S. Route 218. Other nearby towns include Gilbertville and La Porte City. Washburn is part of the bigger Waterloo–Cedar Falls area, which is a group of cities and towns that are close together.
