The Wikmean (pronounced Wik Me'an) were an amazing group of Indigenous Australian people. They were one of the many Wik tribes who lived in the northern part of Queensland, on the beautiful Cape York Peninsula.

Wikmean Lands and Home

The Wikmean people lived on a large area of land, covering about 600 square miles (or 1,550 square kilometers). Their home was inland from a place called Cape Keerweer. This region was very important to them, providing everything they needed to live and thrive.

The Wikmean, like other Indigenous Australian groups, had a deep connection to their land. They understood its seasons, its plants, and its animals. They passed down knowledge about their country through stories, songs, and traditions. This helped them live in harmony with nature for thousands of years.
