Ángel de Saavedra, Duke of Rivas facts for kids
Ángel de Saavedra y Ramírez de Baquedano, Duke of Rivas (born March 10, 1791 – died June 22, 1865) was an important Spanish poet, writer for plays (dramatist), and politician. He was born in Córdoba, Spain.
He is most famous for his play called Don Álvaro; o, La fuerza del sino (which means Don Álvaro; or, The Force of Destiny). This play came out in 1835. It was the very first big success for the Romantic movement in Spanish theater. The Romantic movement was a style of art and literature that focused on strong emotions, imagination, and individualism.
