Åke "Bajdoff" Johansson (born March 19, 1928 – died December 21, 2014) was a famous Swedish football player. He was known for his strong defense on the field.
Johansson played as a center half for the club IFK Norrköping. A center half is a defensive player who helps protect the goal. He played an amazing 321 games for IFK Norrköping, which is a club record!
He also played for the Swedish national team. He played 53 games for his country between 1955 and 1965.
Åke "Bajdoff" Johansson won the Swedish championship with his club six times. These wins were in 1952, 1956, 1957, 1960, 1962, and 1963. In 1957, he won the Guldbollen award. This award is given to the best Swedish football player of the year.
He was also part of the Swedish team that won a silver medal in the 1958 FIFA World Cup. This was a huge achievement for Sweden! Even though he was on the team, he did not play in the final match.
Interestingly, Åke Johansson was also a talented ice hockey player. He played one game for the Swedish national ice hockey team. He passed away on December 21, 2014, after a short illness.
