Édouard Ngirente was born on February 22, 1973. He is an economist and politician from Rwanda. Since August 30, 2017, he has been the Prime Minister of Rwanda. He was chosen for this important role by Rwanda's President, Paul Kagame.

Early Life and Education
Édouard Ngirente was born in Rwanda on February 22, 1973. He studied a lot to become an expert in economics. He earned a PhD in economics from the University of Louvain in Belgium. He also has master's degrees in agricultural economics and financial risk management. Before that, he got his first degree in economics from the National University of Rwanda.
His Career Before Politics
Before becoming Prime Minister, Ngirente held many important jobs. He worked as a senior advisor for the World Bank from 2011 to 2017. The World Bank is an international group that helps countries with their economies.
He also worked for Rwanda's Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. There, he was a senior economic advisor and a director general. This means he helped plan how Rwanda's economy would grow. For a time, he was also a senior teacher at the National University of Rwanda. He even led the Department of Agricultural Economics there.
Becoming Prime Minister
On August 30, 2017, Édouard Ngirente was chosen to be the new Prime Minister. He took over from Anastase Murekezi. Ngirente became the 11th Prime Minister of Rwanda. He was also the sixth Prime Minister since the 1994 Genocide. He was one of several people who were not career politicians chosen by President Paul Kagame after the 2017 election.
What He Does as Prime Minister
As Prime Minister, Ngirente has worked on many changes to help Rwanda's economy. He has supported more money for research and better transportation. He also focuses on improving education for everyone.
His government has started campaigns to encourage people to pay their taxes. They also promote protecting the environment. These efforts aim to build a stronger and more sustainable future for Rwanda. Ngirente travels to other countries to ask for more foreign investment in Rwanda. He also travels across Africa to support family planning efforts.
