Émerson had a long and interesting career playing football all over the world. He started his journey in Brazil and then moved to play for many different clubs in various countries.
Early Career and Europe
Émerson began his youth career at São Paulo in Brazil. He then moved to Europe, playing for Bellinzago. From 1991 to 1994, he played for Hamburger SV in Germany, where he scored 1 goal in 4 games. After that, he joined Holstein Kiel from 1994 to 1995, scoring 10 goals in 24 matches.
Travels to Asia and Ukraine
In 1995, Émerson played briefly for Bellmare Hiratsuka in Japan. Later that year, he moved to Ukraine to play for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, where he scored 7 goals in 14 games.
Back to Germany and South America
From 1996 to 1997, Émerson returned to Germany to play for FC St. Pauli. He then had spells in South America with Atletico Junior and Grêmio.
