101 Ways to Bug Your Teacher is a children's book from 2004. It was written by Lee Wardlaw. This book is a follow-up to another book called 101 Ways To Bug Your Parents.
The story is about Stephen Wyatt, a middle school inventor. Stephen faces a big problem: his parents want him to skip eighth grade. This means he would go to high school early. He would have to leave his friends behind. Stephen also feels like he has lost his ability to invent new things. The book shows how he tries to get his inventing spark back.
Lee Wardlaw got the idea for this book from her own life. She used to be an elementary school teacher for five years. The book was recognized as a "Best Book of the Month" by ALAN. This is a journal from the National Council of Teachers of English. It was also chosen as a "Children's Choice" in 2005.

What Happens in the Story
The story begins with Steve (also called Sneeze) and his friends. Their names are Hiccup, Goldie, Ace, and Pierre. They are all working on their history projects about ancient Egypt. Their teacher, Ms. Pierce, has a special way of giving out punishments. She calls it "the death roll." This is how she manages the class.
Steve's parents tell him some big news. They have already talked to the principals of both schools. They want Steve to skip eighth grade. This means he would go straight to high school. Steve does not want to do this for two main reasons. First, he doesn't want to leave his friends. They are the only ones who truly understand him. Second, Steve feels like he has lost his talent for inventing. He is starting to give up on himself. Later, his friend Hayley talks to him, and he kisses her. Steve also joins the Inventors Club. His mom has a new baby girl named Alyssa Marie Wyatt. Sadly, Alyssa inherits Steve's bad allergies.
Meet the Main Characters
Stephen "Sneeze" Wyatt
Stephen is known as "Sneeze" because he has really bad allergies. He is a young inventor. He wants people to notice his amazing inventions. In 101 Ways to Bug Your Teacher, he finds it hard to invent new things. He tries very hard to figure out why his inventing skills are gone.
Hector "Hiccup" Denardo
Hector, or "Hiccup," is Steve's best friend. Sometimes, he is also Steve's unwilling helper for inventions! Hiccup worries a lot about getting sick. He comes from a large family. He often goes to great lengths to avoid getting ill. He got his nickname because he tends to get the hiccups. This happens whenever he is nervous or excited.
Hayley Barker
Hayley is Steve's second best friend. She works at the counter of the golf course where Steve also works. Hayley is usually very calm and collected. But deep down, she is sad about losing her mother, Alyssa. The book gives hints that she might have a crush on Steve.
