The building at 150 West Main Street is a tall and important building in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia, United States. It's the fourth tallest building there. You can find a very popular restaurant called Todd Jurich's Bistro right on the ground floor.

Building History: How It Was Built

Around the year 2000, many businesses in Norfolk needed office space. There weren't enough offices for everyone. So, the city of Norfolk worked with two local business leaders, Tom Robinson and Robert Stanton. They teamed up to build this new office tower.

The city helped pay for a huge parking garage inside the building. It has space for 840 cars and takes up floors two through ten. When the building opened in 2002, many companies moved in. They came from older buildings, like the Bank of America Center. Everyone wanted to be in this new, modern building.

Inside the Building: What's There?

This building is 20 stories tall. It has 234,000 sq ft (21,700 m2) of space that companies can rent. A company called CB Richard Ellis helps manage all this space.

Ground Floor Features

A branch of SunTrust bank is on the ground floor. You can even see their name at the very top of the building. Todd Jurich's Bistro, a well-known restaurant, is also on the ground floor. This restaurant has been open since 1992. They often change their menu to use fresh foods that are in season. They also have a great selection of wines and private rooms for special meals.

Other Cool Features

When you walk into the lobby, you'll see original art on display. There's also a special 2,000 sq ft (190 m2) space on the top floor. It's like a fancy meeting room that companies can use for conferences. The building is safe, with security working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It even has a backup generator. This means if the power goes out, the building still has electricity!

Building Ownership Changes

Over the years, the building has been sold a few times. In 2005, the first owners sold it to the St. Joe Company for $50.5 million. Then, in 2007, St. Joe sold it to a company called Eola Capital, LLC for $56 million.

Finally, on February 8, 2008, Gate Petroleum bought the building. At that time, almost all the offices were rented out. Only three spaces were empty! Most of the companies in the building are legal and financial businesses. This includes many lawyers, Certified Public Accountants, and big companies like Troutman Sanders, Kaufman & Canoles, Virginia Natural Gas, and Wachovia Securities.
