Aadel Lampe (born May 10, 1857 – died 1944) was an important Norwegian leader. She worked hard for women's rights and was a politician. She was also a teacher for children who were deaf and helped women get the right to vote.

In 1922, she was chosen as a deputy member of the Storting, which is Norway's parliament. She was one of the first women to be elected to this important role. From 1922 to 1926, she was the President of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights.

A Life Dedicated to Change

Aadel Lampe was born in a place called Stranda in Norway. Her father, Claus Ernst Lampe, was a priest. Aadel became a teacher after studying at the Nissen Higher School for Young Women in Kristiania (now called Oslo). She first taught at Nissen's Girls' School. Later, she taught at Hedevig Rosing's school, which was a special school for deaf children in Kristiania.

She became one of the early leaders of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights. This group worked to make life fairer for women. Aadel was the president of the association from 1922 to 1926. She joined the group's board in 1895. She also served as vice president from 1899 to 1903 and again from 1912 to 1922. During these times, Fredrikke Marie Qvam and Randi Blehr were the presidents.

A Woman in Politics

Aadel Lampe first belonged to the Liberal Party. Later, she joined the Free-minded Liberal Party. She was a deputy member of this party's national leadership. She also served on the board of the party's women's group.

Aadel Lampe, along with Randi Blehr and Cecilie Thoresen Krog, wrote a letter to the government. They asked for women to be allowed to work in government jobs.

In the 1921 election, Aadel was chosen as a deputy member of the Storting. She represented the area of Christiania. She was part of a list of candidates from the Free-minded Liberal Party and the Conservative Party. She served in parliament from 1922 to 1924.

Aadel Lampe was one of five women elected to the parliament that year. Four of them were deputy members, like Aadel. The fifth woman, Karen Platou, became Norway's first permanent Member of Parliament. Karen Platou was on the same party list and represented the same area as Aadel Lampe.
