Aar Dheel facts for kids
Aar Dheel was an important leader of the Dhulbahante tribe. He was the 17th garaad guud, which means he was the 17th supreme chieftain or main leader of his people.
Aar Dheel: A Dhulbahante Leader
Aar Dheel became the leader of the Dhulbahante tribe after Diiriye Guure, who was the 16th king. Unlike many leaders who inherit their position, Aar Dheel was not part of the usual line of kings who passed down their power through their family.
How Aar Dheel Became Leader
Aar Dheel was chosen to be the next leader because he was a "regent." A regent is a trusted person who takes charge when the usual ruler is not available or too young. He was also a close relative to the ruling families of the tribe.
His Title as Leader
The leader before him, Diiriye Guure, was called a "Sultan." However, Aar Dheel went back to being called "garaad." This was the traditional title for the supreme chieftain of the Dhulbahante tribe.
