Abu Bakar Kamara dedicated many years to serving the people of Sierra Leone. He held two very important jobs in the government.
Minister of Finance
From 1977 to 1978, Abu Bakar Kamara was the Minister of Finance of Sierra Leone. This means he was in charge of the country's money, like its budget and how it collected taxes. He worked under President Siaka Stevens during this time.
First Vice President
Later, from 1987 to 1991, Mr. Kamara became the First Vice President of Sierra Leone. This was a very high position, second only to the President. He served alongside President Joseph Saidu Momoh. In September 1991, both he and the Second Vice President, Salia Jusu-Sheriff, left their positions.
