Action with Communities in Rural England facts for kids
Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) is a special charity in England. It helps people living in the countryside. ACRE works with 38 groups across England. These groups are part of a big network that helps rural areas. In 2020, ACRE was connected to 52,000 local groups in 11,000 villages and small towns.
What is ACRE?
ACRE started in 1987. Its main goal was to bring together many smaller groups that help rural communities. ACRE listens to people and groups in the countryside. It collects information about their needs and problems.
How ACRE Helps Rural Areas
ACRE uses the information it gathers to talk to the government. It tries to make sure that decisions made by the government help people in rural areas. ACRE works on many important issues, such as:
- Housing: Making sure there are good homes for people in the countryside.
- Health: Helping people in rural areas get the healthcare they need.
- Transport: Improving ways for people to travel, like buses or roads.
- Internet Access: Working to get fast internet for everyone in the countryside.
- Fuel Poverty: Helping families who struggle to pay for heating their homes.
Working with Others
ACRE does not work alone. It partners with many other groups that also want to help rural communities. ACRE is also part of a group called the Rural Coalition. This group has thirteen national organisations. They all work together to make sure the English countryside is a great place to live and work.
