Ada Salas was born in Cáceres, Spain in 1965. She studied language and literature, earning a special degree called a doctorate from the University of Extremadura. Later, she taught in France at the University of Angers.
Ada Salas won an important award early in her career. It was named after Juan Manuel Rozas, who was supposed to be her teacher but passed away. She entered the competition in his memory and won in 1988.
