The Adams Lake Indian Band (called Sexqeltqin in the Shuswap language) is a group of Indigenous people who are part of the larger Secwepemc (Shuswap) Nation. This band was formed in the 1860s when the government of the Colony of British Columbia set up a system of Indian reserves.

The Adams Lake Indian Band is a member of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council. This council represents Secwepemc people living in the Thompson and Shuswap areas of southern Central British Columbia. Other Secwepemc groups further north in the Cariboo region belong to the Northern Shuswap Tribal Council.
