Adela Galiana y Albaladejo, also known as Adela Galiana de Osterman (born 10 July 1825 in Torrevieja, died in Madrid), was a Spanish writer. She wrote plays, poems, and articles for newspapers.

Her Life Story

Adela Galiana was born on July 10, 1825, in Torrevieja, Spain. Her parents were José Galiana Tarancón and Gregoria Albaladejo García. She went to a girls' school in Torrevieja. Adela started writing stories and poems when she was very young.

In 1850, Adela married Atenógenes Sánchez Barceló, but he passed away soon after. Later, between 1861 and 1865, she married Saturnino Osterman y Pérez Caballero.

Adela Galiana passed away in Madrid, either at the end of the 1800s or the beginning of the 1900s.

Her Writings

In 1861, Adela Galiana published her first book, El hombre y su corazón (Man and His Heart), in Valencia. In the same year, she wrote her only play, called Los dos gemelos (The Two Twins). This play was written in verse, like a long poem, and had three acts.

In 1865, she published a book called El consejero de los niños (The Children's Advisor). She used the name Adela Galiana de Osterman for this book. It became very popular and was even used as a textbook in schools.

In 1870, Adela published two more works: El guerrero español (The Spanish Warrior) and Un recuerdo de la guerra de África (A Memory of the War in Africa). She dedicated these books to the Spanish army and navy. This was because her husband was a military officer.

Adela also wrote many articles for newspapers in Madrid. From 1880 to 1890, she often wrote for a newspaper called Correspondencia Alicantina. In 1887, she published some of her stories and poems in La Opinion de Torrevieja newspaper.

Her last known article was published in La Opinion de Torrevieja in February 1888. It was a tribute to her nephew, Pedro García Ibáñez, who had passed away at the age of 24.
