Adelaide of Hungary (born around 1040 – died January 27, 1062) was a princess and the only daughter of Andrew I of Hungary, who was the King of Hungary. Her mother is believed to have been Anastasia of Kiev.
Life Story
Adelaide became the second wife of Vratislav II of Bohemia. They were married in 1058. This marriage was important for Vratislav because it created a strong connection with Adelaide's powerful father, King Andrew I.
Adelaide and Vratislav had four children together. Some of their notable children included Bretislaus II of Bohemia and Judith of Bohemia.
In 1061, Vratislav became the Duke of Bohemia after his brother passed away. This meant Adelaide became the Duchess of Bohemia. However, she was duchess for only a short time. She passed away early in 1062.
After Adelaide's death, her husband Vratislav married again to Świętosława of Poland. Later, in 1085, Vratislav was crowned as the very first King of Bohemia.
