Adriana Neumann de Oliveira (born 25 January 1980) is a talented Brazilian mathematician. She is well-known for her work with something called interacting particle systems. In 2016, she received a special award called the L'Oréal-UNESCO Prizes for women in science. Today, she works as a professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.

Meet Adriana Neumann de Oliveira

Adriana Neumann de Oliveira studies how many tiny things interact with each other. Imagine a huge crowd of people, or even tiny atoms moving around. Her work helps us understand how these large groups behave over time. This field of math is called interacting particle systems.

Her Journey in Math

Adriana worked hard to become a mathematician. She earned her Ph.D. (a very high degree in university) in 2011. She studied at the Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada in Brazil. Her Ph.D. project was about a complex math topic called "Hydrodynamical Limit and Large Deviations Principle for the Exclusion Process with Slow Bonds." Her advisor, Cláudio Landim, helped guide her research.

Awards and Recognition

In 2016, Adriana Neumann de Oliveira was honored with the L'Oréal-UNESCO Prizes for women in science. This award celebrates amazing women scientists from all over the world and helps encourage more girls and women to get involved in science.

In 2020, she was also chosen to be a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. This is a big honor, as it means she is recognized as one of the top scientists in Brazil.
