Agness Gidna is a famous Tanzanian scientist. She is a paleontologist, which means she studies ancient life, like fossils. She used to be a Senior Curator of Paleontology at the National Museum of Tanzania. Now, she works for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There, she helps protect important historical and cultural sites.

Agness Gidna made history as the first Tanzanian woman to earn a doctorate in Physical Anthropology. This field studies human evolution. She is also the first Tanzanian woman to lead research at Olduvai Gorge. Since 2017, she has been a main leader of the Olduvai Palaeoanthropology and Paleoecology Project (TOPPP). This project explores the history of early humans in the area.

Agness Gidna studied at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. She also went to universities in Spain, including Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Alcala.

She helped discover a very large ancient site called Luxmanda. This site shows how people lived during the Pastoral Neolithic period in Africa. She also helps lead big international research projects, like the one at Olduvai Gorge.
