Aida Begić (born on May 9, 1976) is a talented film director and screenwriter from Bosnia. She is known for making movies that tell important stories.

Becoming a Filmmaker

Aida Begić studied film and theater directing. She graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo in 2000. Her final student film was called "The First Death Experience."

This film was very popular. It was shown at more than twenty film festivals around the world. It even went to the famous Cannes Film Festival! "The First Death Experience" won five awards at different festivals.

Aida Begić now teaches directing at the same Academy in Sarajevo. She helps new students learn how to make films. She has also created many commercials and short videos. In 2004, she started her own film company called MAMAFILM with Elma Tataragic.

Aida Begić has directed several feature films. These are longer movies that tell a full story.

Snow

Her first big movie was Snow (original title: Snijeg). It came out in 2008. This film won a special award called the Grand Prix at the Cannes Critics' Week. This was a huge honor for her first feature film!

Children of Sarajevo

In 2012, she returned to the Cannes Film Festival with her movie Children of Sarajevo (original title: Djeca). This film also won a special award. It received a Special Distinction in the Un Certain Regard section.

Other Projects

Aida Begić has also worked on other film projects. She directed parts of two movies that had different stories put together. These were Do Not Forget Me Istanbul (2010) and Bridges of Sarajevo (2014). Bridges of Sarajevo was also shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Her most recent feature film is Never Leave Me, released in 2017.
