Aimi Kobayashi (小林 愛実, Kobayashi Aimi, born September 23, 1995) is a talented Japanese classical pianist. She is known for her amazing piano skills and for being a finalist in the famous International Chopin Piano Competition. She even won 4th prize in the competition in 2021!

About Aimi Kobayashi
Early Life and Musical Journey
Aimi Kobayashi was born in Ube, Japan, on September 23, 1995. She started playing the piano when she was only three years old! By the time she was seven, she was already performing with an orchestra. Since she was eight, she has been taught by a special piano teacher named Yuko Ninomiya.
Performing Around the World
Aimi has won many awards, including the "Glory Culture Prize" from her home prefecture in Japan. She even received a special passport from the Polish government because of her connection to the famous composer Frédéric Chopin.
She has traveled all over the world to perform, playing in countries like France, Russia, South Korea, and the United States. She has played in very famous concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York City. A group called AADGT (American Association for Development of the Gifted and Talented) has supported her musical journey for many years.
Recordings and Education
In 2010, Aimi released her very first CD and DVD, called Aimi Kobayashi Debut. She later released another CD called Passion. She has also released three more CDs, with two of them featuring only music by Chopin.
Aimi studied at the Curtis Institute of Music, which is a very well-known music school.
Awards and Competitions
Aimi has won many important piano competitions throughout her life:
- In 2002, she won 1st place in the Young Piano Competition in Japan.
- In 2009, she won a junior prize at the Asia-Pacific International Chopin Piano Competition in South Korea.
- In 2011, she won a gold medal at the Asia International Chopin Competition.
- In 2012, she placed 3rd in the Gina Bachauer Young Artist Competition.
- In 2015, she was a finalist in the XVII International Chopin Piano Competition.
- In 2021, she won 4th prize at the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition.
Family Life
On January 1, 2023, Aimi married Kyohei Sorita. He is also a talented pianist and was a fellow prize winner at the same Chopin Piano Competition. They were childhood friends! They have also shared that they are expecting a child.
