Aixa de la Cruz was born in Bilbao, Spain, in 1988. She is a talented Spanish writer with Basque roots. Aixa de la Cruz is known for her novels and short stories.
Her novels Cuando fuimos los mejores and De música ligera were both recognized. They were considered for the important Premio Euskadi de Literatura award. She also wrote a book of short stories called Modelos Animales (which means "Animal Models"). Her stories have appeared in several collections, including Best European Fiction 2015.

Aixa de la Cruz started writing at a young age. While still in school, she wrote articles and short stories. In 2006, she received a special grant from the Antonio Gala Foundation. This grant helped her continue her writing journey.
Today, Aixa de la Cruz lives in Spain. She also teaches writing at the Writers' School in Madrid. She helps new writers develop their skills.
Her play I Don't Like Mondays was very popular. It was a finalist in two theater contests. The play was performed in Mexico in 2012. Another play, "Animal Models" (2017), was based on her own short story. It tells the story of an actress who finds new ways to express herself.
Aixa de la Cruz's writing style is unique. People say her stories often explore the line between what is real and what is strange. Her latest novel is called "La línea del frente" (2017).
Awards and Recognition
Aixa de la Cruz has received several awards for her work. Her first two novels were both shortlisted for the Premio Euskadi de Literatura. This is a major literary award in the Basque Country.
In 2013, a Spanish magazine called El Cultural featured her. They named her one of twelve promising writers under 40 years old. In 2014, she won the Cosecha Eñe prize. This is an annual award for short stories from Eñe Magazine.
