Akira Amano (天野 明, Amano Akira, born 1973) is a talented Japanese mangaka, which means she is a manga artist. She is widely known for creating the popular shōnen series Reborn!. Shōnen manga are comic books usually made for young boys.
Before Reborn! became a big hit, earlier versions of her stories were published in magazines for older readers. In late 2003, a short story version of Reborn! appeared in a famous magazine called Weekly Shōnen Jump. People loved it so much that the full series began to be published regularly in mid-2004.
Reborn! grew very popular. It was made into an anime TV show, five light novels (which are like short books), and several video games. Akira Amano is considered one of the most successful manga artists in Japan.
