The Story of the Akwesasne Wolves
The Akwesasne Wolves were part of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League. This league was for young hockey players. It helped them improve their skills and play competitive games.
Changes to the Hockey League
After the 2014-15 season, the league decided to make some big changes. They wanted to become a "feeder league" for a higher level league. This higher league was called the Central Canada Hockey League. A feeder league helps players move up to more competitive teams.
Why the Wolves Team Ended
The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League was renamed. It became the Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2. The league also decided to have fewer teams. They planned to reduce the number of teams to 12. However, they ended up with 16 teams.
Because of these changes, six teams were removed from the league. Sadly, the Akwesasne Wolves were one of these teams. Other teams that were removed included the Morrisburg Lions and the Almonte Thunder. This meant the Akwesasne Wolves team stopped playing in 2015.
