Al's Diner is a historic restaurant located at 14 Yelle Street in Chicopee, Massachusetts. It's a special place because it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's an important building from the past!
Al's Diner was built by a company called Master Diner. This company made these kinds of restaurants from the 1940s to the 1970s. The diner arrived in Chicopee in 1958. Over the years, it has been known by a few names. These include Al's Restaurant and The White Diner. For a long time, until 1983, Al's Diner was open 24 hours a day. Today, it serves breakfast and lunch. It also has dinner hours on Thursdays and Fridays.

What Makes Al's Diner Special?
Al's Diner is on the west side of Yelle Street. It's in the Willimansett area of northern Chicopee. The diner building itself sits close to the road. There's a parking area next to it.
How the Diner Looks
The main part of the diner is built on a brick and concrete base. There's also a kitchen area added to the side. The diner is covered in shiny steel. It has cool blue and red stripes. You can enter the diner from two spots. These entrances have metal covers above them.
Inside Al's Diner
When you step inside, you'll see six booths. There are also fourteen stools along a long counter. The counter stretches almost the whole length of the diner. The original grill is still behind the counter. The back wall has neat steel panels with starburst designs. The ceiling also shows hints of its original colors.
The History of Al's Diner
This diner was made by Master Diner. They were based in Pequannock, New Jersey. They built about sixty diners in total.
When the Diner Arrived
Al's Diner came to Chicopee in 1958. It first opened its doors in 1959. Back then, it was called The White Diner.
New Owners and New Names
In 1962, Al Rubin bought the diner. He changed its name to Al's Restaurant. Since 1975, the Mathews family has owned and run the diner. They have kept this historic spot going for many years.
