Albert Salvadó i Miras (born February 1, 1951 – died December 3, 2020) was a famous writer and engineer from Andorra. He wrote many books in both Catalan and Spanish.

Albert Salvadó was known for writing stories for children, essays, and especially historical novels. He was really good at bringing history to life in his books. Many people say he made historical novels in Catalan exciting again!

He also wrote exciting crime stories, like El rapte, el mort i el Marsellès, which won an award in 2000. Another book, Una vida en joc, was about an old casino. For suspense fans, he wrote Un vot per l'esperança, which was chosen as a special book in 1985. His book L'informe Phaeton is often called his most amazing novel by readers.

Salvadó loved to write about different times in history. Some of his historical novels include:

  • The Teacher of Cheops (which won an award in 1998)
  • L'anell d'Àtila (another award winner from 1999)
  • Els ulls d'Anníbal (won the Charlemagne Prize in 2002)
  • La Gran Concubina d'Egipte (won an award in 2005)

He also wrote a series of three books about a famous king, James I the Conqueror. These books are called El punyal del sarraí, La reina hongaresa, and Parleu o mateu-me. He wrote another trilogy (a series of three books) about a character named Ali Bey: Maleït català, Maleït musulmà, and Maleït cristià. One of his books, Obre els ulls i desperta, takes place in the 1600s in Prague.

Albert Salvadó received many awards for his writing. These awards show how much his stories were loved and respected:

  • 1982: Won the Premi Xerric-Xerrac for children's stories for his book La imaginació del nen.
  • 1985: His book Libertad para Satanás was chosen for the Plaza & Janés award.
  • 1998: Won the Premi Nèstor Luján for historical novels for The teacher of Cheops.
  • 1999: Won the Premi Fiter i Rossell for L'anell d'Àtila.
  • 2000: Won the Premi Sèrie Negra de Planeta for El rapte, el mort i el marsellès.
  • 2002: Won the Premi Carlemany for Els Ulls d'Anníbal.
  • 2005: Won the Premi Nèstor Luján for historical novels again, this time for La Gran concubina de Amon.
  • 2016: Received the Premi Internacional El Vi Fa Sang for his entire writing career.
  • 2018: Won the Premi Àgora Cultural del Principat d'Andorra 2017 for helping make literature from Andorra better, especially historical novels.
