Aleec Harris was born on October 31, 1990. He is an American athlete who specializes in track and field events, especially hurdling. Hurdles are races where athletes jump over barriers while running.
Early Career
Aleec Harris grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. When he was in high school, he became a state champion in Georgia. This showed he was a very talented runner from a young age.
After high school, Aleec went on to compete in college. He ran for the USC Trojans team. He also competed at Barton Community College. While at Barton Community College, he became a champion in the 110 meter hurdles. This was at the NJCAA championships, which are for junior colleges.
In 2014, Aleec did very well at college championships. At the 2014 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, he placed fifth in the 60 meter hurdles race. Later that year, at the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, he finished second in the 110 meter hurdles. It was a very close race, decided by a "photo finish." This means the finish was so close, they had to look at a photo to see who crossed the line first.
National and International Competitions
Aleec Harris continued to compete at a high level after college. In 2014, he took part in the 2014 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He finished fourth in the 110 meter hurdles.
In 2015, Aleec won a big national title. He became the senior national champion in the 60 meter hurdles. This happened at the 2015 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
He had another great performance at the 2017 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Aleec finished first in the 110 meter hurdles. He beat famous hurdlers like Aries Merritt and Devon Allen. Usually, the top three athletes qualify for the World Championships. However, the winner of that race, David Oliver, already had a spot. This was because he was the defending world champion. So, Aleec Harris earned the final spot to represent the United States at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics.
