Aleksandr Borisovich Nikitin (Russian: Алекса́ндр Бори́сович Ники́тин; born February 4, 1961 – died January 14, 2021) was a well-known Russian football player and coach. He was famous for playing as a striker and midfielder. He spent many years playing for and later coaching FC Rotor Volgograd.
Playing Career
Aleksandr Nikitin started his professional football journey in 1978. He made his first big appearance in a professional league for FC Rotor Volgograd. He was a talented player who could score many goals.
He played for several teams during his career. Some of his main clubs included FC Torpedo Volzhsky and FC SKA Rostov-on-Don. However, he is best known for his time with FC Rotor Volgograd. He played for them in two different periods, from 1981 to 1982 and then again from 1985 to 1990. During these years, he played in over 200 games and scored more than 80 goals for the club.
In the early 1990s, he also played football in Finland for a team called Malax IF. He was a very successful goal scorer there too. He returned to FC Rotor Volgograd for a final season in 1993 before ending his playing career.
Achievements
One of Aleksandr Nikitin's biggest achievements as a player was in 1993. That year, his team, FC Rotor Volgograd, finished as the runner-up in the Russian Premier League. This means they came in second place, which is a great accomplishment in a top football league.
Coaching and Management
After he stopped playing, Aleksandr Nikitin stayed involved in football. He became a coach and manager. He spent a lot of his coaching career working with his former club, FC Rotor Volgograd. He held many different roles there, including assistant coach, manager, and even general director. He helped guide the team and develop new players.
Personal Life
Aleksandr Nikitin's son, Oleg Nikitin, also became a professional football player.
