Alessandra Carbone is a talented Italian mathematician and computer scientist. She is a professor in the computer science department at the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, France. Since 2009, she has been in charge of a special lab that uses computers to study living things, called the laboratory of computational and quantitative biology.

Career Journey

Alessandra Carbone earned her PhD, which is a very high university degree, in mathematics in 1993. She studied at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. After that, she worked as a researcher at the Paris Diderot University until 1995. Then, she moved to the Technical University of Vienna in Austria, where she worked until 1996. She has also taught computer science at the Paris 12 Val de Marne University and the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques. Today, she is a professor at the Pierre and Marie Curie University.

Awards and Honors

Alessandra Carbone has received many important awards for her work. She is a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France, which is a special group for top university professors in France. In 2010, she was given the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize, an award that celebrates women in science.
