Alessandro "Alex" Giovanni Venturella is a talented musician from England. He is best known as the current bassist for the famous American heavy metal band, Slipknot. Before joining Slipknot, Alex played lead guitar for other bands like Krokodil and Cry for Silence. Earlier in his career, he also worked behind the scenes as a guitar technician, helping guitarists from bands like Mastodon, Coheed and Cambria, Architects, and Fightstar with their instruments.

Joining Slipknot

On October 7, 2014, fans started to guess that Alessandro Venturella was playing bass in a Slipknot music video. The video was for their song "The Devil in I". Even though all the band members wore masks, Alex's unique tattoo on his left hand was noticed.

The lead singer of Slipknot, Corey Taylor, said that Alex and the drummer in the video were not yet official members. He mentioned that "Time will tell" if they would become full members.

On December 3, 2014, a photo of the band's tour list was shared. This list showed that Alessandro Venturella was indeed touring as the bassist. Later, on May 13, 2015, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root officially confirmed in an interview that Alex was the band's bassist.

Health Scare

On August 2, 2015, Alessandro Venturella had a medical emergency during a show in Hartford, Connecticut. He was quickly taken to the hospital. The next day, it was announced that he had suffered from dehydration. He returned to perform with the band on August 4, 2015, in Mansfield, Massachusetts, playing from backstage.
