Early Life and Education

Later, he continued his medical studies in England at Cambridge University in 1637. In 1641, he became a respected member of the Royal College of Physicians.

Working for the King

Fraizer was involved in court life. He sometimes got along with important people like Edward Hyde, and other times he avoided them. The king said Fraizer was an excellent doctor. He also helped the king with important court matters.

Some people at the time said bad things about Fraizer. However, these claims were not supported by facts. For example, Sir John Denham attacked Fraizer because of a personal disagreement. Samuel Pepys, another writer, heard gossip from others. But respected doctors, like Dr. Edward Browne, spoke highly of Fraizer. In 1666, Fraizer was chosen as an "elect" at the College of Physicians. This honor showed that his medical skills were highly respected.

Fraizer's Medical Skills

Fraizer was involved in several important medical cases. He cared for Mary, Princess of Orange, when she became ill with smallpox in 1660. He also treated the young James, Duke of Cambridge, and Charles, Duke of Kendal, in 1667. Both young princes sadly passed away.

One notable success was when he oversaw a brain surgery on Prince Rupert. This surgery, called trepanning, happened in 1666 and was successful. Fraizer had an apothecary named Mr. Elburg who helped him in Cologne.
