Alexander II worked hard to make Scotland stronger and more independent. He tried to get control of parts of northern England. He also signed important agreements with England, like the Treaty of York in 1237, which set the border between Scotland and England. This border is still largely the same today.

He married Joan of England, who was the sister of King Henry III of England. Alexander II died in 1249 and was buried in Melrose Abbey.

He also made many other important changes. These included reforms in the justice system, the military, and local government. His time as emperor was a period of great change for Russia. Alexander II died in an attack in 1881.

Even though Serbia is now a republic, Alexander II is still seen by many as the Crown Prince. He lives in Belgrade, Serbia, and works to support his country. He is involved in many charitable activities.
