Serving as Governor of Cesar
Alfonso Araújo Cotes was the Governor of the Department of Cesar twice. His first time as Governor was from September 21, 1968, to August 21, 1970. He served again from June 7, 1975, to August 30, 1977. As Governor, he was in charge of leading the region and making important decisions for its people.
During his time as Governor, he worked with a team of people. These team members helped him manage different areas of the government. For example, he had a Secretary of Government and a Secretary of Development. These roles helped him make sure the region ran smoothly and grew.
Ambassador to Panama
Later in his career, Alfonso Araújo Cotes became the Ambassador of Colombia to Panama. He held this important role from 1990 to 1997. As an ambassador, his job was to build good relationships between Colombia and Panama. He also helped Colombian citizens living in Panama.
