Alfredo Pacheco spent most of his football career playing for FAS. This is one of the biggest football clubs in El Salvador. He started in their youth teams and then joined the main team. His first professional game was on March 3, 2001. This was a league match against C.D. Municipal Limeño. In 2005, he became the captain of the FAS team.

He started training with the Red Bulls in April 2009. He made his first appearance for them on April 18, 2009. After a short time, his loan ended, and he returned to El Salvador.
After leaving FAS, Pacheco signed a two-year contract with C.D. Águila in 2010. However, he only stayed for one year. In 2011, he moved to another club called Isidro Metapán. He played for Isidro Metapán until 2013.

He scored his first goal for El Salvador from a free-kick. This happened in a 2003 Gold Cup Quarterfinals match against Costa Rica. Pacheco became the player with the most games played for El Salvador, with 86 appearances.
In September 2013, Alfredo Pacheco was one of 14 Salvadoran players who were banned from playing football for life. This was because of their involvement in a sports scandal related to fair play in games.
