Alicia Miyares Fernández is a Spanish philosopher and a strong supporter of women's rights. She is the leader of No Somos Vasijas, a feminist group she helped start in 2015. This group is against "womb renting," where one person carries a baby for another.
Alicia believes that "the time for good words has ended" and it's time for real action. She says that "Equality and Democracy should almost be the same thing." This means a country can't truly be a democracy if everyone isn't treated equally. She also believes that women's bodies should not be treated like things to buy or sell. Alicia has argued that the Spanish school system has made it harder for women to achieve equality.
In 2014, Alicia Miyares Fernández wrote the main statement for the "Tren de la Libertad" protest. This protest was a very important moment for feminism in Spain. Her statement helped many people understand the goals of the movement.
In November 2016, Alicia spoke at a conference about gender equality. In 2017, she talked about "womb renting" in Spain. She said, "I think one of the strongest desires of people is to be parents." She believes that the human body should not be bought or sold.
In July 2018, Alicia spoke at a feminist school event. She talked about how compliments can be different depending on who says them. She explained that when a man gives a compliment to a woman, it can sometimes feel like he is trying to control her body.
In September 2018, many Spanish families were stuck in Ukraine because they had used "womb rental" there. Alicia Miyares Fernández spoke out against these families bringing the children back to Spain. She said that these families were trying to do something that was not legal in Spain.
In November 2018, Alicia took part in an event about "Vulnerable Maternities" in Valencia. She spoke for the groups No Somos Vasijas and Recav. Before the 2019 Spanish general elections, Alicia was very clear about her views against "womb renting." She also explained her feminist ideas at another event in Fuenlabrada.
