Alison O. Bremner Nax̲shag̲eit, also known as Alison Marks, is a talented artist from the Tlingit people of Alaska. She was born in 1989. Her art mixes funny ideas, modern art styles, and old Tlingit traditions. She uses different materials like paint, wood, and collage in her work.
Alison also creates traditional Tlingit art pieces. These are used in special Tlingit gatherings called potlatches and other ceremonies. She grew up in Juneau, Alaska, and now lives in Seattle, Washington. She says her art is "inspired by ancient traditions and modern coffee."
Alison Bremner learned from famous Tsimshian totem pole carvers, David A. Boxley and his son, David R. Boxley. After learning from them, she started her own journey as an artist. She works hard to keep the Tlingit culture alive and strong. People say she was the first Tlingit woman to carve and help put up a totem pole.
