Alastair Carragh MacDonald (also known as Alexander the Strong) was an important Scottish leader who lived in the 1400s. He was the son of John of Islay, Lord of the Isles, a powerful ruler in Scotland, and Margaret Stewart, who was the daughter of King Robert II of Scotland. Alastair Carragh is known as the founder of the Clan MacDonald of Keppoch.

He fought alongside his brother, Donald of the Isles, in a big battle called the Battle of Harlaw in 1411. They were fighting to support Donald's claim to the Earldom of Ross, which was an important area of land.
