Allen Holubar (born August 3, 1890 – died November 20, 1923) was an American actor, film director, and screenwriter. He worked during the time of silent films, which were movies without spoken dialogue. He acted in 38 films and directed 33 films during his career.

Allen Holubar's Film Career

Allen Holubar began his career as an actor on the stage. This is where he met his future wife, Dorothy Phillips. They met during a play called Every Woman in Chicago.

From Actor to Director

While Dorothy continued acting in movies, Allen decided to become a director. He also started producing films, which means he helped manage the making of movies. Because of their success, Allen and Dorothy started their own company in 1920. It was called the Allen Holubar Production Company.

Famous Films

One of Holubar's important films was The Heart of Humanity, made in 1918. This movie was so well-known that it was shown at The Museum of Modern Art in 2014. This shows how important his work was in film history.

Allen Holubar was married to actress Dorothy Phillips. They were married for eleven years, starting in 1912.

His Early Death

Sadly, Allen Holubar died young, at the age of 33. He passed away in 1923 from pneumonia, which is a serious lung infection. This happened after he had surgery. Dorothy Phillips, his wife, also died from pneumonia much later, in 1980, when she was 90 years old.
